Church leaders MPs and Liz Hurley are among those supporting a campaign to save thousands of churches from metal thieves

NEW HARTFORD — Lent began Wednesday with the traditional imposition of ashes, but it is becoming harder and harder for New England churches to gather congregants within their doors. As a result, one parish, St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Hartford, decided to make its ministry more accessible to parishioners through an “Ashes to Go.” effort.
